Vincent Bolamba, known professionally as Lynx XX (or simply Lynx), is a visionary producer and artist who has left an indelible mark on the Canadian and international music scenes. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he grew up in a family deeply rooted in faith and music. The award propelled them into provincial tours, making them the first culturally diverse group to achieve such recognition in Ontario’s largely English-speaking landscape. That same year, they served as ambassadors for Franco-Ontarian youth, significantly contributing to the development of Franco-Ontarian cultural identity and educational programs.

In 2000, while regularly working at Ottawa’s legendary Swapp Studios—a cornerstone of Canada’s urban music scene—he met renowned sound engineer and producer Goggs, who became his mentor. Under Goggs’ guidance, Lynx deepened his skills in mixing and audio engineering, later enrolling at Ottawa’s School of Recording Arts. In 2004, he encountered the group Capital Prophets, composed of rapper Belly and singer Massari, and produced their hit single “Spite Fire.” The song became a summer anthem receiving national radio play, establishing Lynx as the first Afro-Canadian producer to achieve a national hit. He continued collaborating with both artists, steadily increasing his prominence in the industry.

Building on this momentum, Lynx co-founded XX Temple Production in 2005 with Canadian partners Olympe Fie Guihede, Patrick Diafwila, and his brother Michael Bolamba, who later became a pioneer of the Afro hip-hop movement in France with the group Bana Kin. Lynx composed and produced three tracks for Massari’s debut album, overseeing vocal arrangements and top lines for the entire project. The album sold nearly 100,000 copies, earning him his first gold record. In 2006, he produced a track and interludes on Belly’s album, which sold over 80,000 copies, earning him a second gold record.

Driven by creative ambition, Lynx opened his own recording studio in Ottawa in 2007 with his partners. The studio quickly became an essential creative hub for local and international artists, further shaping the city’s urban sound. That same year, his company made a notable impact in France with “Ma Sueur Et Mes Larmes,” a standout track from Youssoupha’s debut album, co-written and performed by Michael Bolamba (Mike Genie). The song, featuring melancholic acoustic guitars and heartfelt vocals, became a fan favorite.

Continuing his prolific output, Lynx produced several tracks for Bisso Na Bisso’s 2009 album, notably the hit “Show Ce Soir,” which reached the Top 10 on Francophone radio charts. He also produced the successful follow-up single “Là-Bas,” further cementing his reputation as a sought-after producer. These tracks laid the groundwork for Afro Trap, a style blending African rhythms, hip-hop drums, and synths, later popularized by artist MHD as trap gained dominance in French rap. This success led Lynx into live event production, organizing Bisso Na Bisso’s Canadian tour in 2010, followed by tours for French rappers La Fouine and Booba, along with a series of shows featuring artists such as Lloyd and Trey Songz, supporting BODB Entertainment, a young company under his mentorship during this period.

Expanding his vision further, Lynx co-founded his second company, ELVO Music, with Olympe Fie in 2012, dedicated to developing emerging artists and local talent. As the label’s founder and artistic director, he collaborated across diverse genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats, and even country music. Staying true to his roots, he became the artistic director of his church and launched Festi-Adoration in 2014, a gospel music festival spotlighting inspirational artists. He also broadened his work into music production for major TV networks like HBO, composing music for commercials and shows.

After years of mentorship, Lynx and Goggs founded theAURISTS, a collective of producers, directors, sound engineers, songwriters, and musicians dedicated to pushing creative boundaries and redefining the future of music production. This initiative combines their expertise and networks into a powerful and innovative collaboration, significantly impacting both American and African music industries.

In 2021, Lynx strengthened his connection to his heritage when Congolese-Canadian rapper Chucc Luciano approached him for a collaboration. Together, they created the single “Les Meilleurs,” featuring Fabregas le Métis Noir. This project marked Lynx’s meaningful return to Congolese music, reaffirming his commitment to evolving the Congolese music scene.

Keeping pace with future trends, Lynx immersed himself in the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence. His latest project involved a collaboration with Congolese-Canadian duo Zilla & Masey on their lead single, “Criminel.” Lynx produced the music and employed cutting-edge AI technology to direct and produce the AI-generated music video, which has surpassed 700,000 views on YouTube, highlighting his continued ability to innovate and captivate audiences.

Lynx renforce ses liens avec ses racines en 2021 lorsque le rappeur congolais-canadien Chucc Luciano lui propose une collaboration.
